Are You Pregnant? Have you just had a baby? Did you know it is very easy for you to drop that dreaded pregnancy weight, and do it fast? My wife is due with our second child in just 3 days, so she has at least one go round with losing the baby weight… and let me tell you she got that weight off fast. In preparation to write this article I asked my wife what she thought was the keys to losing the weight so fast. By fast I mean that she was back down to her pre-pregnancy weight within 3 months. She was also not the type that only gained 20 pounds. She started out at 125 pounds and gained 55 pounds when she was pregnant. So she had a good amount of weight to drop, as was back to 125 pounds in less than 3 months.
My wife told me that she thinks her biggest key to losing all her weight was the amount of exercise she did while she was pregnant. She checked with her doctor to see how much exercise was healthy during each trimester of pregnancy and exercised as much as she could. She said she felt like her body was prepared to lose the weight so after she gave birth to our daughter and was cleared by her doctor to work out again, she shed those pounds fast. When she was pregnant she did a lot of jogging, walking and swimming. Pretty low key workouts but she was diligent with them and exercised every day she could.
Her next biggest key to losing the weight, she said was her diet. Now do not get me wrong she had her cravings and ate what she craved, but her typical diet was very healthy. She did not eat fast food or junk food, unless of course she craved it one day. She said because she kept her diet as healthy as possible she felt like the weight she gained was all due to the baby, and not because she used the pregnancy excuse to eat junk food and gain weight, because you are “supposed to gain weight when pregnant” right? Well that is true but it is supposed to be baby weight, not junk food weight.
Her third key to success was the exercise she did after having the baby. As soon as she got the all clear from her doctor she started working out immediately. She continued the same exercises that she did while she was pregnant until she felt comfortable taking it up a few levels. As soon as she started dropping a few pounds she was more and more encouraged and kept working harder to lose her weight.
I was surprised when she said her third key was the post pregnancy workout. I expected that to be number one, but she felt like all the exercise and diet before having the baby was what helped drop her weight so fast. So if you are pregnant or have just had a baby, know that it is possible to lose the baby weight. Exercise and eat healthy… those are your keys.
Remember to always get the advice from your doctor before working out while pregnant, or after you are pregnant.
