Is it really true that almost all network marketers fail?
According to most people yes it’s true. I’m sorry to burst your bubble and I’m pretty sure that’s not something they told you when you signed up or went to your first meeting, but it’s true.
Or is it?
Many years ago I bought a treadmill because I wanted to lose weight and get in shape. It wasn’t the most expensive treadmill but it cost about $800. I bought a special power strip to protect my investment so by the time you added tax I’d spent $1,000.
I was really excited when I bought that new treadmill because I knew that I was going to take this “getting in shape” thing very seriously. And I did, for about 2 weeks.
Then one day we decided to go eat at one of our favorite restaurants and we had a great meal. I ate so much that there was no way I was going to get on the treadmill that night. I couldn’t, I was just too full.
The next day there was a game on TV that I wanted to watch, I wanted to get on that treadmill but there just wasn’t enough time. The next day there was some other reason that took my attention away from my new treadmill.
I really wanted to get on that treadmill but day after day there was one reason after another that stopped me from doing what I had been so excited to do just a few weeks earlier. Today that treadmill is a great clothes hanger.
So here we are more than two years later and my treadmill hasn’t been used in months. I haven’t lost any weight; in fact I’ve probably gained weight. So why don’t I complain to everybody in the world that treadmills don’t work?
I should start a blog, let’s call it the treadmills don’t work blog. I could start a post on all kinds of websites and claim that all treadmills should be illegal. Gyms should be prohibited from selling memberships because treadmills are a ripoff!
Now that sounds silly doesn’t it? Treadmills aren’t a ripoff, people get excited and then they decide to quit using the treadmill even though many people have been very successful using treadmills!
Aren’t network marketing businesses just like that? You spend a lot of money to start a network marketing business and you get all excited for a few weeks. Then you stop working your network marketing business and whom do you blame?
Instead of admitting that you didn’t do what you were supposed to do to become successful you blame the industry. Why is it that people who quit college don’t raise a stink that colleges are scams?
Why is it that people who buy a juicer after watching an informational on TV don’t call juicers a scam? You use them once or twice and then you try to sell it at a garage sale. Why isn’t that a scam? Because it isn’t! Network marketing isn’t a scam either.
Most network marketers don’t fail, they just quit. I quit using the treadmill, college and the juicer but they aren’t scams. I quit the first few network marketing businesses too but thankfully I knew that the reason that I didn’t become successful was my fault.
Why do people say that most network marketers fail when in reality they just quit? Because it’s easier to blame the industry. Don’t be one of “those” people, don’t quit, and if you do quit blame yourself.
You can change your life in a network marketing business if, like anything else in life, you just don’t quit!
